Route 66 trolley

A couple of weeks ago, I took the 66 to Bridge St. It pulled over to
the curb on Frankford Ave instead of going around the bend to the
terminal building. After I got out, I looked back and the poles were
in the down position under the hooks. The driver had never left the
vehicle. Do these trolleys have an automatic dewiring control? I'm
not sure why this was done, as the wires continue south on Frankford
Ave to Margaret-Orthodox.

Can they also run on stored electric?
