SEPTA to Join the Elevator Escalator Safety Foundation to Promote Safe

PHILADELPHIA, Nov. 6 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- SEPTA will participate
in National Elevator Escalator Safety Awareness Week, November 10-14,
by joining the Elevator Escalator Safety Foundation (EESF) to educate
passengers on the safe and proper use of elevators and escalators.
SEPTA will take the program to neighborhoods throughout the week by
offering special safety videos and distributing safety literature. The
program is designed to instruct children and adults about the need to
exert extreme caution and follow general safety rules when using
elevators and escalators.
Schools and organization interested in learning more about EESF or
participating in the foundation's free SAFE-T Rider program for
children may call 1-800-949-6442 or visit the foundation's web site at
www.eesf.org.
The following events are scheduled from November 10 through November
14:
MONDAY, NOVEMBER 10
*Safety video presentation and literature distribution
7 a.m. to 9 a.m. - SEPTA Headquarters, 1234 Market Street Lobby,
Philadelphia, PA
TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 11
*Safety video presentation and literature distribution (with specially
wrapped 'safety' escalator handrails)
7 a.m. to 9 a.m. - Frankford Transportation Center
Bridge Street & Frankford Ave., Philadelphia, PA
WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 12
*SAFE-T Rider Assembly (with mascot SAFE-T Rider)
7 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. - Olney Elementary School
2nd & Water Streets, Philadelphia, PA
As part of the SAFE-T Rider assembly, SEPTA will offer SAFE-T Rider
coloring books to students, as well as literature, stickers,
certificates and a special safety video.
